🌞Summer 2026 Newsletter: For the Kids
Our Summer 2026 Newsletter is now available, and this edition focuses on the children and families we serve throughout East Clarington.
Did you know that nearly 40% of the people we support are children? As schools close for the summer, many families lose access to nutrition programs that help stretch their food budgets. That’s why summer is one of our busiest and most important seasons.
In this issue, you’ll learn about:
- Kids Zone – providing additional support, fresh food, and children’s snacks throughout July and August
- Our Back-to-School Program – helping families purchase the supplies their children need with dignity and choice
- The Karen Fisher Bursary – supporting post-secondary students in our community
- Upcoming community fundraisers and events
- Our Summer Wish List of most-needed food and household items
- Highlights from our new Three-Year Strategic Plan
Every child deserves a summer free from hunger and a strong start to the school year. Thank you to our incredible community for helping make that possible.

New Floors, New Possibilities at the Clarington East Food Bank
We are excited to share a significant improvement to our space—brand new flooring throughout the Clarington East Food Bank!
This important upgrade was made possible through the generous Feeding Possibility Grant from Feed Ontario. Their continued support helps strengthen food banks across the province, ensuring that organizations like ours can provide safe, welcoming, and accessible spaces for the communities we serve.
The installation was expertly completed by Euro Pro Flooring. Their professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail ensured a smooth process and a beautiful final result. The new flooring not only enhances the appearance of our facility but also improves safety, cleanliness, and durability—benefiting our volunteers and neighbours alike.
These enhancements allow us to better serve our growing community with dignity and care. We are deeply grateful to Feed Ontario for investing in our mission and to Euro Pro Flooring for bringing this project to life.
Thank you for helping us create a stronger foundation for the future!
🏆 Milestone: Standard of Excellence
In case you missed it, CEFB has officially achieved the Food Banks Canada Standard of Excellence. This accreditation is a testament to the hard work of our Board of Directors, volunteers and staff in maintaining the highest national standards for food safety, governance, and community accountability.
Current Seasonal Focus
- 🍎 Fresh Food Program: We are currently prioritizing donations of fresh potatoes, carrots, or onions to ensure our families have access to nutritious, well-rounded meals.
