 Private Donations

We accept non-perishable food items, diapers, formula, cleaning products, and toiletries. Please refer to our wish list page for the items we currently need.

Items can be dropped off by appointment at our location 250 Mill St. S, Newcastle ( We are physically located on Edward St. in between Mill St and Church St). Please email us claringtoneastfoodbank@gmail.com or call us at 905 987 1418.

We strongly encourage drop-offs between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m on Tuesdays or Thursdays or between 1 pm. and 3 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Don’t forget to use the drop-off bins at No Frills and Foodland.

 Food Drives

We have changed our policy around Food Drives. Please refer to our separate page “How to Run a Organize a Food Drive” we also encourage Fund Drives over Food Drives.

Fund Drives over Food Drives 

Support us through a fundraiser! We rely on fundraisers all year round to provide healthy and fresh food to those in need.

While we appreciate the support we received from food drives over the years, we’ve had issues with the varying levels of food quality through third-party food drives. On average, up to 30% of the food we receive ends up being SPOILED, DAMAGED, or UNSAFE to eat. 

After much consideration, we are limiting the number of food drives for four main reasons:

  1. Unhealthy Food Donations: The food is either spoiled or expired and we can not share it with our neighbours.
  2. Better Buying Power: We are able to purchase food in bulk and/or at a lower cost due to industry partnerships often at a 2:1 ratio
  3. Labour Intensive: We require a lot of volunteers to sort through the food and shelve the food
  4. Lack of Space: We do not have the space to store all the food generated from multiple food drives in one month.

We will work with organizations to spread our food drives out throughout the calendar year and will make an exception for school-organized food drives for educational purposes.  However, we encourage all other donors to switch to Fund Drives.
