Dinner in the Orchard — Kent Farms and The Yardbird, September 12

Mark your calendar for a special evening under the trees. On Friday, September 12, starting at 5 p.m., Kent Farms and The Yardbird are teaming up for Dinner in the Orchard — a farm-to-table evening set right among the apple trees at Kent Farms in Newcastle, with The Yardbird’s kitchen behind the meal.

Tickets are $175 per person (HST and gratuity included) and include a welcome cocktail, passed canapés, a three-course dinner, and a complimentary glass of wine with dinner. A cash bar will also be on site.

Best of all — every dollar raised goes directly to Clarington East Food Bank. It’s a beautiful night out for a cause that couldn’t need it more right now.

Open House & BBQ — Saturday, September 19

Come see the food bank for yourself. On Saturday, September 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., we’re throwing open our doors at 250 Mill St. S. for our annual Open House & BBQ .

The Newcastle Lions Club is manning the grill this year. There’ll be facility tours, live music, and face-painting for the kids, plus a chance to meet the board and the volunteers who keep this place running.

It’s a good year to come. Need has grown faster this year than at any point since we opened in 1995 and nearly a third of the households who came to us this year had never needed a food bank before. If you’ve ever wondered what we actually do or how the shopping model works, this is the day to walk in and see it.

New Floors, New Possibilities at the Clarington East Food Bank

We are excited to share a significant improvement to our space—brand new flooring throughout the Clarington East Food Bank!

This important upgrade was made possible through the generous Feeding Possibility Grant from Feed Ontario. Their continued support helps strengthen food banks across the province, ensuring that organizations like ours can provide safe, welcoming, and accessible spaces for the communities we serve.

The installation was expertly completed by Euro Pro Flooring. Their professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail ensured a smooth process and a beautiful final result. The new flooring not only enhances the appearance of our facility but also improves safety, cleanliness, and durability—benefiting our volunteers and neighbours alike.

These enhancements allow us to better serve our growing community with dignity and care. We are deeply grateful to Feed Ontario for investing in our mission and to Euro Pro Flooring for bringing this project to life.
